Leeds North East Primary Care Trust are seeking to appoint a full-time GP to work 6 sessions per week in the Leeds Primary Care Centre for Homeless People, with clinical and research responsibilities, and 4 sessions in a salaried post for the PCT within mainstream general practice.
This will be an exciting post with opportunity for development and a variety of experience: clinical work in a well established primary care team specialising in the care of the homeless population of Leeds, primary care research and mainstream primary care.
The Leeds Primary Care Centre for Homeless People (known as the NFA Health Care Centre) is a highly regarded city centre practice, an established Research practice and a secondary care provider of addictions services. We have an extremely motivated multi-disciplinary team comprising two mental health nurses, addictions therapist, practice nurse, research worker, two support workers and existing full-time GP, and are well supported by administrative staff. The NFA centre is a first-wave PMS pilot. Team members are involved in education of GP registrars, medical students and nursing students.
The PCT are keen to appoint a GP who will continue the NFA Centre's tradition of primary care research into all aspects of homelessness and associated morbidity. A full time research worker supports this work.
The PCT has 29 practices spread across 3 localities. With a population of around 156,000 people the PCT is committed to reducing health inequalities, providing fast and convenient care and developing local primary care services.
The post holder will be well supported both at NFA and PCT levels. The package of employment is flexible and open to negotiation to suit individual needs.
Salary scale is currently £45-55K but is open to negotiation.
