Part-Time Substance Misuse Management Doctor

Hours: 3 sessions per week
Salary: £160 per session
The job is supported by 4 substance misuse management nurses, a dual diagnosis nurse and 5 drug councillors, called CARAT workers in the prison service.
Inmates entering prison who have substance misuse problems are identified in reception. They are then assessed more fully by the doctor the following day and a plan formulated to manage their substance misuse problems. We would envisage one full day and a morning session. Most of the work is in the morning but an afternoon session would allow for follow up of complicated cases, tying up loose ends and promoting good through care. The team is collocated, which facilitates daily liaison between all its members. I would plan to be in the prison for some of the new doctor's sessions so that we could liaise and further plan the service together.
