Base: Telford & Wrekin Community Substance Misuse Services
Hours:7 sessions per week, 44 weeks per year, 6 weeks annual leave & 2 weeks audit
Salary: £73,500

Telford & Wrekin Community Substance Misuse Service is a community based statutory agency working with people with drug and alcohol problems. The service is provided jointly by Telford & Wrekin PCT and Telford & Wrekin Council.

Mathew Webb House provides a tier 2 Open Access Service and Portico House provides a tier 3 Structured Treatment Service. Inpatient services are provided by Shropshire County PCT and residential rehabilitation services are purchased on an individual needs basis from a variety of voluntary and independent service providers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced GP to provide direct clinical input at a specialist level to people with complex drug and alcohol problems and to provide clinical leadership and support to GPs involved in the shared care treatment of substance misusers in Telford & Wrekin

Whilst the post is based in Portico House the successful applicant will be expected to work across the Substance Misuse Services and be willing to deliver sessions throughout Telford & Wrekin.

The successful applicant will need to be currently registered with the General Medical Council with no restrictions on practice and have experience of both working as a GP and in the clinical management and treatment of people with drug and alcohol problems as a specialist on behalf of GPs.
