The National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse (NTA) is a special health authority created in 2001 with a remit to increase the availability, capacity and effectiveness of drug treatment in England.

Substance misusers across England need faster access to support and we are actively increasing the availability, capacity and effectiveness of treatment. At the heart of everything we do, you will directly influence national policy and practice, bringing together teams of clinical specialists in substance misuse.

Contributing to the provision of high level advice and guidance, you will develop a clear consensus with clinical colleagues on multidisciplinary issues and work closely with senior management on policy formulation. Representing the organisation at a range of forums will give you an extremely high profile and you will forge lasting links with other professional bodies and primary care providers - so your interpersonal skills are just as important as your clinical knowledge.

Significant experience of working with substance misusers is paramount, and you will bring broad understanding of the evidence base for drug treatment. Experience of developing policy and clinical protocols would be a major asset, as would proven partnership working skills and clear writing skills, but even more importantly, you will possess a truly strategic and national outlook.
