Job title: GP with a Special Interest in Substance Misuse
Salary: Circa £80,000 depending on experience

Islington PCT is seeking to appoint a GP with a special interest in substance misuse to provide general medical services and clinical leadership within our integrated drug service.

Islington PCT is part of a consortium working in partnership with Cranstoun Drug Services and Crime Reduction Initiatives (CRI). The consortium was recently awarded a contract to deliver Low Threshold Prescribing Services and Direct Access, assessment and psycho-social services (tier 2 & 3 treatment). Together we will deliver innovative and effective client centred responses to problematic drug use in Islington.

This is an exciting opportunity to participate actively in the clinical development of our new service model. This post involves providing specialist clinical assessment and prescribing to people with a drug problem, providing a range of skilled assessment and evidence-based treatment options for the service users.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership to staff working within the service and be open to developing new ways of delivering quality services.

You will be working closely with Nurses, Drug Workers, Complementary Therapists, Primary Care staff and a range of health professionals. The successful applicant will be required to work on occasional evenings.
