Job title: Writer/Coordinator
Salary: £3,000 contract

Updating SMU materials in line with NICE guidance and updated clinical guidelines

SMU and SMMGP are looking for someone to coordinate/write a new updated guidance document entitled "Guidance for working with stimulant users, including cocaine and crack users in primary care".

This guidance will:

  1. Build on the current cocaine guidance updated and extended to include all stimulant users:

    1. Cocaine and crack
    2. Amfetamines
    3. Methamfetamine

  2. Include all methods of treatment including:

    1. Harm reduction
    2. Detoxification
    3. Psychological interventions
    4. Role of prescribing
    5. Place of in-patient detox and rehabilitation
    6. Place of stimulants in polydrug use

  3. Explain the role of primary care

The budget for this work is £3000-00 and can be used to pay writer or a team of contributors and the guidance needs to be ready for publication within one year. There will be administrative and editing support from SMMGP.

This position will be a contracted piece of work for the RCGP, if you wish to apply for this role, please submit an expression of interest and:

  3. An estimated timeline
  4. Write a 300 - 500 word introduction to the guidance
