Title: Salaried/Locum GPs with RCGP Part 1 in Substance Misuse
Based: Cambridge

Medacs Managed Healthcare is the UK's largest provider of healthcare in a custodial setting; and has exciting opportunities for RCGP Part 1 Doctors who would like to combine General Practice and Prison Medicine through the provision of a GP Service to either HMP and HMYOI Littlehey or HMP Whitemoor in Cambridge.

There are permanent vacancies for 10 clinical sessions per week, with some flexibility around whether this is one full time salaried GP, or two part-time GPs.

There is also opportunity for locum GPs to provide a service.

The role of GP within the prisons will incorporate the following:

  • Set surgery sessions.
  • Daily clinical input to the substance misuse centre (with support from external consultant).
  • Walk-ins (trauma/head injuries).
  • Supporting sexual health clinic/chronic disease clinic/mental health as required.
  • Teaching sessions.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to prison medicine and to use the full range of your RCGP skills. Experience of secure environments preferred but not essential.

There are excellent opportunities for personal and professional development. Please contact John Harding via the details below for an informal discussion, or send your CV to the e-mail address below:
