Job Advert 107
Maple Access Partnership
GP Partner/GPwSI and Other Staff
Title: GP Partner/GPwSI and Other Staff
Location: Northampton
We are looking for a GP Partner who is either already an experienced GP with special interest or wants to develop his or her interest in Mental Health and Substance Misuse in primary and intermediate care. This is not an immediate vacancy and we are looking prospectively for such an individual, and for other professionals - please read on...
Maple Access Partnership, an NHS PMS+ Practice, has been involved in caring for the most socially excluded (homeless, asylum seekers, Travellers and foreign nationals) in Northampton for the last 10 years. We now have 5,400 patients, two thirds of whom originate form Africa or Eastern Europe and are now settling into the community. Among the under-class of homeless and complex needs patients we treat 280 medically for substance misuse, and hold the county Violent Patient contract, and are increasingly involved with alcohol treatments (100+ community detoxes per year).
We are also collecting increasing numbers of patients with significant Personality Disorders for whom we wish to develop better services. We teach Leicester medical students and will take FY2 doctors from next year. We have a supportive multidisciplinary team with partner organisations providing on-site services. We are well respecrted by our local commissioning group and work with them in our Locality as well as being involved in commissioning developments in our field.
Currently getting involved in collaborative bids for substance misuse and alcohol services in the local community and prison, we need to expand our team and are particularly in need of another GP Partner who is enthusiastic about working with our excluded patient groups and wants to work with, learn from, and support our experienced lead GP and GPwSI and other senior members of the team. To a significant degree, our development will depend on finding the right person or people.
We would also welcome enquiries from nurses, drug and support workers who share our enthusiasm for working flexibly and imaginatively with these patient groups and in a supportive team, and for whom we also expect to be able to offer posts in the next 12 months. We are dedicated and enjoy this work despite its pressures and frustrations, and we need to find others who share our ethos and want to learn, work hard, reflect, and contribute. Those with an academic and/or educatiuonal bias could find much material here too, and their interest would be welcome.
We would also be interested in collaborative working with similar organisations elsewhere.
